Mali's interim president returned home Friday, two months after seeking medical treatment in France when he was badly beaten by protesters who back a coup leader hanging onto power.
Dioncounda Traore became the country's president in April after the soldiers behind a March coup agreed in principle to hand over power to an interim civilian government. The coup leader, though, has shown no signs of leaving.

Women of the soldiers arrested have demonstrated Monday, July 16,2012 in the capital Bamako. They demand transparency on the soldiers arrested after the military coup of April 30. In Mali the journalists are often persecuted by the gunmen. six national journalists have been assault since the crisis. The latest case was Labass Haidara, editor of The Independent newspaper .He was abduct e d by gunmen on the night of July 12, 2012. He has been beating and he is taking traitement in Hopital in Bamako. The governement has promised to punish the authors.

Kenya Indymedia has reported that on Tuesday, February 21, radio journalist and organizer Stephen Nyash was shot dead in the Korogocho ghetto of Nairobi, where he had lived and worked for most of his life. Korogocho is the third largest slum in the world [1]. At writing, the motive for his murder is not clear.
